Meet Our Founder
Mukti Society was founded in late 2021 by Kam Singh. Singh has struggled with mental health and addiction for the majority of his life. Singh left a criminal lifestyle and entered recovery more than five years ago, and has spent years working as a Substance Use Counsellor.
At-Risk Youth Supports
Meeting youth where they’re at. Creating trust. Mukti adopts a peer-led and mentorship approach to build connection and trust with youth. With trust comes vulnerability, which creates access to intervene, which then creates the ability to educate – and that’s where trajectories can be changed.
One-on-one mental health and addictions counselling. Group therapy.
Educational Seminars
Powerful talks involve real-life experiences of individuals who have exited lives of crime and entered lives of recovery.
Peer-led workshops will be held in a safe, judgment-free environment. This educational platform will cater to specific audiences, including youth and parents, and curriculum will be culturally specific to each audience.
Mukti Drop-In Centre
OUR VISION: Mukti’s Youth Drop-In Centre will intervene with youth providing peer-led mentorship and recreational programs in addition to free and accessible one-on-one and group counselling. While programs will have a focus on the Indo-Canadian community, the Centre will serve and be open to all youth across Surrey, Delta and beyond.
