Mukti Society’s Board of Directors brings lived experience and professional expertise to support addiction recovery and mental health services in Surrey, BC.

Kam Singh Jugpal is Founder and Executive Director of Mukti Society. Singh is Substance Use Counsellor and Motivational Speaker, passionately working to engage and support vulnerable individuals, with a particular focus on youth and the South Asian community. Through his talks, he shares his lived experience of his past mental health and addiction challenges. As a Counsellor, Kam focuses on Positive Psychology utilizing a Strength-Based, Humanistic Approach.

Paramveer Sanghera is a dedicated community advocate and emerging leader in the non-profit sector, with a strong background in supporting vulnerable populations. He holds an undergraduate degree in Psychology for KPU, which informs his compassionate, evidence-based approach to service delivery and community engagement. In 2023, he founded Helping Hands Universal Outreach Services, a non-profit organization committed to connecting individuals experiencing vulnerability with critical resources, including shelter, treatment programs, and community support. Through this initiative, he has demonstrated a strong commitment to addressing systemic barriers and improving access to essential services. Professionally, Paramveer serves as a Program Coordinator at Fraserside Community Services Society, where he oversees the organization’s largest supportive housing site, comprising over 90 self contained units. In this role, he is responsible for program operations, team leadership, and ensuring residents receive holistic, person-centered care in a safe and supportive environment. Known for his leadership, empathy, and dedication, Paramveer brings valuable frontline experience and strategic insight. He is passionate about advancing inclusive, community-driven solutions that create lasting impact.
